Higher Biology – Gene Probes HW

Put the following steps in the correct order;

1. First, sequence the amino acids for the insulin protein.

2. Discover the DNA sequence which codes for the insulin protein.

3. Take a sample of DNA containing the desired gene from the cell.

4. You have been given the insulin protein and need to make a gene probe for it.

5. From the amino acids, find the sequence of tRNA and then mRNA which codes for

the insulin protein.

6. Add the gene probe and let it bind to the gene for insulin.

7. Take your DNA sample and but it into small pieces using an enzyme.

8. Produce a complementary strand to the DNA sequence which codes for insulin.

Good luck and let me know if any of the statements are unclear!
